Opening Price Theory is a framework for reading what the market does after the open — key levels, wick behavior, structure and bias, in that order, until there's a trade worth taking.
What Is OPT?
A framework, not a signal service.
Opening Price Theory (OPT) is a single-candle approach for reading what price does first relative to that candle’s open. Use it when your bias is established but no clear range is available. If price moves below the open first, then reclaims it, that can support a bullish setup; wait for confirmation before entering.
Set the bias
Start with the higher-timeframe direction. If bias is unclear, wait rather than force an OPT trade.
Mark the open
Mark the opening price of the candle you are studying. Read the first move in relation to that level.
Read the first move
A low first can support a bullish read after price reclaims the open. A high first is a warning in a bullish setup; reassess the structure and bias.
Wait for confirmation
Look for a decisive Change in State of Delivery (CSD) before entry. Avoid OPT candles with long wicks; short wicks are more consistent with expansion.

Bias
Establish the market’s directional expectation from the higher time frames before looking for an entry.
Range
Find a clear range that agrees with the bias. If there is no visible range, consider OPT as an alternative setup.
Key Level
Identify the level supporting the range or OPT idea. Give more weight to an unmitigated level; inducement can add confluence.
Entry
Wait for a confirmed entry model such as CSD. Follow your risk plan and skip incomplete setups.
